Nathan, it sounds like you need a good field guide to reptiles with lots of good photos and information.
Snakes of North America - Eastern and Central Regions by Alan Tennant is a very good one. You can get a new copy for about $20.00 or a used one at Amazon.com for about $16.00
A Field Guide to Reptiles and Amphibians by Roger Conant is also a very good one. They sell for $14.00 new and $6.00 used on Amazon.com
A book store near you might have them for sale also.
Having a good field guide will really help you learn the snakes that live in your area.
Best Regards JohnZ

Nathan, hey, do you prefere Nathan or Nate?
Anyway, untill you get a field guide, you can try typing in a snakes name into Google, and then click on IMAGES. For example on the Northeren Brown Snake that probably is what you have been seeing, you would get this page:
http://images.google.com/images?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLJ,GGLJ:2006-37,GGLJ:en&q=Northern%20Brown%20snake%20&sa=N&tab=wi
The only problem is that if you did not know to search under Northern Brown Snake, you would have never found the photos, LOL. So I guess you still need a field guide !
Best Regards JohnZ

well, it doesnt matter... when i was real young, my neighbor was about 14, i would always play video games and listen to music with him. He gave me the nicname"natedog"
But, unfortunally, he moved, and then died in a car accident on the way to his new house... So, that name will always stick, and i will never forget it...
BUT, what does this have to do with snakes!?!?!
I will get a field guide asap so i dont have to bug you guys with species questions!!!

Sorry to hear about your friend.
Asking snake ID`s online does not bug folks, it is just difficult to identify snakes that way. A field guide with photos is a lot faster and more accurate.
Also, this site has a HUGE number of photos of snakes in the photo album. I think it is the worlds largest online collection of reptile photos. You can find a lot of snakes just looking through all the photo pages.
Best Regards JohnZ
