Hi all,
What species of sea snake are found in the Americas? One of the VP's of my company said he saw a sea snake with a very distinct head and spotted back swimming around a reef. From what the sources I have say, the only sea snake found in this half of the world are P.platurus. My quess is he probally saw an eel of some sort but I told him I would check.
Thanks in advance.
Later,
Jeremy

While I don't have a lot of resources on Sea Snakes, the ones that I do have say that Pelamis platurus is the only one found in the waters of North and/or South America.
My references are:
Venomous Reptiles of North America by Carl H. Ernst (1992)
Poisonous Snakes of the World - A Manual for use by U.S. Amphibious Forces NAVMED P-5099 (1965)
Hope that this is helpful, Karl
