Steve Irwin will be missed.
His tv shows educated and entertained millions worldwide. His voice on conservation helped make people awair of the needs of all types of wildlife.
And his attitude and outlook on life was just fun to watch.

I felt profound sadness in my heart when my brother called me this morning to tell me the news. I feel as though I have lost a family member even though I have never met the man. Growing up watching him on TV he was an icon to me. GOD LOVE YOU STEVE.

In my grief I forgot to post of his overwhelming generosity and concern for animals and his willingness to offer aid without regards to monetary compensation. When we decided to go to Thailand and bring back Utan the giant crocodile Steve sent an email offering the help of not only himself, and his wife Terri, but of a 40 person crocodile relocation team as well. His offer was at no charge so that Utan could be an ambassadeur on behalf of the plight of crocodilians worldwide. Steve could be very generous. Again be are saddened by his loss. Roark

This is an event I had hoped would not occur in my lifetime. The unfortunate demise of Steve Irwin is really the story about a man who lived his life as other's only dream that they could live without worrying about the consequences of others opinions or regards for personal safey as he brought vital conservation issues into untold millions of homes worldwide. To say he lived his life to the fullest would be an understatement. Steve was a pioneer, a true force of nature that could not be contained within the confines of a television set. The enormity of his loss will be felt by millions of people from all walks of life from adoring children to the most jaded of adults. His zest and passion for his work was unparalelled as his conservation efforts impact on behalf of this planet and its inhabitants will be felt for years to come. Steve my friend, you will often be imitated but never, never forgotten. Roark Ferguson

It is a sad day for wildlife conservation. The world lost a man today that was a bridging gap between wildlife and mans understanding of it. Steve was one of the few men that had the ability to bring people around a television for a short time at night and learn about wildlife. His conservation work is well known as was his passion for all life. Weather you agreed with his style or not there is no denying that he was a great ambassador for wildlife conservation. He will be missed.
My condolences go to the Irwin family and to his friends and staff at Australia Zoo. We should however remember this is a man who had a passion for life and would not have wanted the world to morn for his loss but remember his zealous passion for life.
So let me turn this sad announcement and ask all members of this site to share with the rest of us your fond memory of Mr. Steve Irwin.
Mine was of Steve filming in Africa where he had a run in with Naja Pallida that just had to keep spitting at him. As a person who owned and worked with Pallida at the time I saw the show it brought a smile and laugh to me thinking just how similar the wild one he was working with was in the aspect of constant spitting mine was.
