I am trying to identify a snake seen in the Philippines recently. Unfortunately I don,t have a photo.
The snake was approx 1 to 1.5 metres long, fairly thin and had a green underbelly. The top was described as colourful including some red.
It was eating a frog which the snake disgorged when disturbed and reacted aggressively.
The snake was found on the beach close to dense jungle.
I'd be grateful if someone could give me a few ideas of what this snake might be. The locals considered it extremely venomous.
Many thanks.

Look at Chrysopelea ornata(Flying Snake) or possibly another species of Chrysopelea depending on which source you read. It is a common rear fanges colubrid in SE Asia, Indonesia and the Phillipines. It is not dangerous, but natives all over the world wrongly consider any colorful or intricately patterned snake deadly.
