The first thing is to thoroughly search the immediate area. I've had a pretty sorry record of letting ratsnakes escape. Of maybe 7-8 escapes, all but two were found within 6 feet of the container they got out of (even if it was days later). They tend to make for the closest dark hiding spot. Then again, I tend to have a lot of clutter for them to hide in...

The ratsnake is going to climb. Look behind books on bookshelves, and up on curtan rods.
Turn off all the lights at night, and take a flash-light and shine around. The light colored belly of ratsnakes shows up well at night.
This is an old snake hunters trick for finding ratsnakes in old barns and buildings. You can often see a loop of the snake hanging from rafters and beams. JohnZ

2 Funnels, Duct tape, 2 empty oatmeal contaniers. Remove both ends of the oatmeal containers and tape them together end to end forming 1 long tube. Put the funnels so that the pointy end goes into to each side of the tube.
It should look like this:

Make sure that the smallest part of the funnel is wide enough for your snake to get through. Drop in a pinky or 2 and put it along a wall so the snake can be "guided" into it. Check it in the morning. Works every time.

Larry, I agree with you. Most all of my escapes were found within the room they lived in. I had a (Agkistrodon c. contortrix) get lose about 2 years ago, I found her coiled up under the shelf that the cage set on. Strange how they seem to take the closest dark corner available. Ever sense that time I look the immediate area over first, before searching the rest of the house.......Be safe, happy herping, Wally

Your snake may have found his way outside. I had a 6 ft black ratsnake escape his cage one night. NEVER did find him. I figured I would have smelled him if he died in the house. But I never did. It was about 6 years later when I got a heat pump replaced, the skeleton of a snake was found in the old duct work. Bryan
