Martyn: Ctenosaura Iguanas have been reliably recorded running at 34.9 km/h. ( 21.7 mph ).
Cnemidophorus Racerunner and Whiptail Lizards have been recorded running at 29 km/h. ( 18.0 mph ).
Hope this helps.
Best Regards JohnZ

Martyn: There is an annual event in New Mexico called the Worlds Fastest Lizard Race.
From what I understand, there have been Collard Lizards that have won the event.
Those Collard Lizards might have been the fastest in that particular race, but they were not competing against Ctenosaura Iguanas.
Perhaps that is where your friend got the idea that Collard Lizards are fastest. JohnZ
