The law was just passed. The possession of exotic venomous snakes in Alabama is now illegal. You can keep a native venomous snake with a permit, but those will be difficult to get, if you can get one at all. The law is not being grandfathered. In other words, if you have something a venomous snake now, you can keep it.

If the law is not being grandfathered in than does that not mean you can not keep what you already have?

not doubting you, just wondering where this info came from. i checked the alabama legislature web site for all recent and current bills and such, and there is nothing there about it. even a game warden i know had not heard anything of it.

still haven't received a reply, i am including an address and would greatly appreciate someone showing me this "newly passed" legislation. is this like the AZA, i think it was, worthless heresey. You people don't even understand the grandfather clause. you have it backwards. what else do you have backwards? please reply, i am very interested in knowing the "TRUTH" about Alabama and venomous laws.
here is the address where you can find this supposed new law so that you may start quoting fact, not fiction. i could not find anything, maybe you can. it could be that i am the venomous idiot. i will gladly listen to fact and apologize to all involved if i am wrong.

The information I got came from one of the state non-game biologists.
I probably got my definition of "grandfathering" mixed up too. Basically what he told me was that if you own venomous snakes now, you can keep them. The state will not go out looking for them to confiscate them. I'll try to get more details next week.

As of the 25 of July i was told by Law enforcement that it will be illeagal to own a non-native venomous in the state of Alabama . I suggest you call your state rep ,the government etc and at least persuade them to allow permits . Anyone that want to get a petition going please contact me Porsha
