On the show they were using long blow pipes to knock herps out of tall trees. I had never seen this before and was wondering if anyone else had any experience with this technique.

The blowgun technique is one that Dr. Lee Grismer developed himself. I have not heard of anyone else using it.

The blow gun has been used for years. We used it in the 70's to collect lizards and natives in Latin America used it to collect for the pet trade.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and stand corrected. The reason i said he developed the technique is because I thought he said that he did on one of his shows. Maybe he didn't say that exactly. My recollection of the show is not 100%. I would like to see it again. I can't remember what it was about exactly, but they were separated from a guide who had all their supplies. If anyone remembers which episode it was please let me know. Now it's going to bother me till I find out.
