You as the snake's caretakre are mainly in control of how "safe" keeping your snakes is.
To be safe in my opinion means having a secure area for your snakes; propper handling equipment and technique; a solid set of bite protocals with periodic brushing up on them--perhaps a drill once a month; and finding a toxicologist or dr who is familiar with treating *at least* native snakebites, sending him/her a copy of your protocols, list of what you keep and where propper antivenom can be attained.
Cheers
Roger
