Now, everyone is ruling out the possibility of a snakebite. Why? Haven't we all heard of a dry bite? Haven't we all heard of allergic reactions to even dry bites? I too am with you in the assumption however, of a bee sting. It's already known that someone can be tagged by bees 1 to ? times and that next time, the catalyst is already there for an allergic reaction. Histamine courses through your body. Instant swelling. Now, I have over the past 5 to 10 years been noticing, at least in this part of the country, bees taking to wood, especially decks or fencing.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I haven't seen anyone speak about the potential for it to be a reaction to a dry bite.
Just my .02.
Matt
P.S. I couldn't find the picture you speak of under Snakebite Photos Album.

"cow killers" are actually a type of wasp too......and i've always "heard" that they're capable of a rather painful sting..........but an allergic reaction would more than likely not have taken a half day either.....wolf spider reactions on the other hand have been known to cause delayed reactions and even necrosis....and they're not considered dangerous at all....

I doubt it would have been a dry bite. There must be envenomation to cause any adverse reaction..be it allergic or just pain & swelling.
