Interesting article.
Probably a timber rattlesnake involved.
The article states ``The State Center for Health Statistics said Friday that it had no records of deaths from venomous snakes in North Carolina.``
I find it difficult to believe that this is the first recorded death due to snakebite in North Carolina.

I am not familiar with that document, but there is a NC Dept. of Health and Human Services report on animal related fatalities that supports that premise. It is a document we (NC Asssociation of Reptile Keepers) used to turn back the proposed ban here in NC on many animals...including hots and most of the Boid family.

By the way, the exact same bill we fought off, which was written by API (Animal Protection Institute) and modified by PETA, was just passed in Kentucky with the blessing of a highly regarded herper we all know... and used to love.
