Looking for "hot" keeper in the Chesapeake, VA area(he he). Preferably experienced in (hot) snake handling, husbandry, etc. Local keeper just can't satisfy needs. Please e-mail at PwdByHrses@aol.com
>:)>
Seriously though, I'm looking for a local to talk to about "hots" to gain learning experience. I find venemous and non-venemous snakes to be fascinating and interesting. I don't plan on obtaining any hots for the next few years (try 3-5). Just trying to get experience to aviod any "bites" that could have been prevented.
(although some human stupidity is too stupid to be prevented)

I am a college student and live in Lynchburg VA and was wondering if there were any "hot" or non-venomous keepers near by to get acquainted with? If any one could help me out, i would really appreciate it. I love working with, researching, and studying snakes. I hope to find someone with the same certain passion/fascination that I have.

I am not sure how far away it is but Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Virginia used to have an exhibit of venomous snakes that various volunteer students helped out with. I took care of the snakes there while I attended the Virginia Military Institute in the late 70's and early 80's. Back then they had a huge Eastern Cottonmouth in the same cage as a large Southern Copperhead. And, of course, we also displayed my CB Canebrake Rattlesnake while I was there. You might drop by and visit with them. There might even be somebody there who knows of someone closer to you. The biology department there was pretty diverse and scattered and it was always hard to get someone on the phone. That's why I say drop by instead of calling. Good luck and let us know how you do, Karl
