My c. atrox I've owned now for about 3 weeks has been living in his hidebox and never seems to want to come out. Even when I flip it and hook him to pull him out into the open, he goes back in within about 20 minutes. Is this a problem? Anything I am doing wrong?
Thanks
Ryan

Wild caught ? If so, it needs to feel secure. Removing the hidebox and allowing it to get used to you walking by the cage is one option, but it may cause the snake to stop eating. If this occurs, always offer food then leave the room. Do not interrupt the snake while it is eating.

Staying in a hidebox is not really an uncommon behavior. If you provide one, they will use it. Especially an animal as notoriously jumpy as an atrox. I have 3 canebrakes that I am brumating together (all 4+ feet) and they are sharing a hidebox.
Just make sure that your atrox is not defecating inside the box and living in it. Otherwise, it's really a normal behavior. I guarantee you that if the temps are up above 72 -74 F, your snake is probably active when the lights are out. Some behaviors are rarely witnessed. I never see my copperheads basking in their waterbowls, but I have found their sheds and poop in them.

I agree with CH. All snakes will use it.
When the sun goes down I sneak out about 20 minutes later and they are all out of there cages (crotalus & naja's). As soon as I turn on the lights they go in there hidebox.
