I've seen a fair number of amelanistic (albino) eastern diamondbacks in captivity and have heard of them being found in the wild. But, I have never seen an amelanistic canebrake. What are the chances of finding one in the wild?

As for your chances of finding one in the wild, I would imagine they are very slim, but that's usually how it happens. Someone just happens to stumble across one while out herping.

Well, I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. Yesterday evening I acquired an albino canebrake that is about 10 or 12 inches long. The snake was just lying in the roadway. It is an absolutely gorgeous snake! I'll be posting pictures of it soon on my website. The snake is bright orange and white and only has its pre button so it can't even rattle yet.

Jason,
that is excellent.
Congratulations!
I am very happy for you.
Yes, albino and other pigment lacking (such as leucistic) Canebrakes/Timbers are not documented nearly as much as Eastern and Western Diamondbacks but there have been a few.
If you get the chance and the inclination, would you mind sending some pictures to my email?
Thanks and congratulations again,
Karl

Jason,
You are one lucky guy. Congratulations. If you do not mind, what state was the snake found in? Like a needle in a haystack, but you did it. :)

Be patient with me. I was going to take some photos last night but got really busy with some other rescue situations. But, I plan on getting some photos tonight and as soon as I can post them I'll let everyone know.
