I posted before but couldnt say enough. Steve was my hero. It feels like i lost a close friend. He taught the world about everything, and every animal. Every day he put his life on the line to teach us (the viewers) about how much we need many of the animals that enherit the earth. He taught me so much since i was very young. I didnt miss an episode. I couldnt beleive the news tho. I was in shock all day, and i will remain in shock for a while. Weve lost a very encouraging mentor. His spirit will still live on. The main thing is he past away doing what he loved. And i have my hopes and prayers for the Zoo and the Irwins (Terri, Bob, Bindi). Life goes on but he will always be here with us, wether we no it or not. Rest In Peace Steve. And good luck Terri, and family, and the whole Australia Zoo team.

Watching his shows back in 96 really brought the spark back into my interest in herps and 10 years later I'm a reptile keeper at a large zoo. I really owe a lot to him and his inspiration. So many herpers critiqued his methods and over-the-top behaivor, but he has given more people a better appreciation for reptiles than we can ever imagine. He died doing what he loved...if we could all be so lucky. He will be greatly missed.

Steve Irwin rekindled my interest in biology and reptiles. He brought nature to those who would never have seen it otherwise. Despite some peoples feelings towards him, his heart was always in the right place and the world is better off for it. God be with him and his family.

i know of three pepole that did not kill a snake this year alone cause thier eyes had been opened to the fact that snakes are not monsters . this is due only to the croc hunters show when asked why , to say that his death is a loss or sad just dos'nt do him or the cause of conservation he shared justice. this is truely a black day for any one who cares for this world and the life on it .

I am 5 years old, and I learned alot from The Crocodile Hunter. I wish you were still alive, so I could continue to learn from you. I really like reptiles. I miss you!

I have loved and lived reptiles all my life. I am what most on this site would call an amateur, as my dealings with venemous are somewhat limited compared to the professionals I read about here. Bottom line is this: Steve Irwin lived what most people dream. His passion came through where most tv personalities do not. He was like watching my nephew handle his first snake at my farm, only with a tremendous knowledge of the subject. My passion is still more than most my age, but he set the standard. You could FEEL his excitement. You were there WITH HIM. NO ONE exemplified that more through the tv. It is a blessing that he did not perish due to a reptile, or you could imagine what people would say : oh, he loved them and you see where that got him?. His death at the hand of another animal is a blessing in disguise in some ways. This death affects me as much as a CLOSE relative in so many ways. He will be missed, I regret my daughter born three weeks ago will only have my recordings of him to watch. My heart is out to Terri and family and the Zoo. We all understand the possibilities of what we do. To me, although tragic and painful to me, his life was as potent as the most potent venom - he changed so many minds. Rest in peace and I'll see you someday, silent 8 / northwest missouri

This is one of the saddest days of my life. When I first heard of the tragic news, I was in a state of disbelief and shock (as I still am).
I admired Steve Irwin so very much. His courage, bravery, love and passion for wildlife and nature were truly inspirational.
He achieved so much in his brief life. He travelled the world to far flung, exotic destinations and worked with some of the most spectacular animals on the planet. He saved countless animals from death, through animal rescues, rehabilitations and promoting the importance of wildlife conservation to the world.
My sincerest thoughts are with his family, friends, colleagues and followers.
Thank you Steve for showing us the path and for sharing all of your adventures with us.
Rest in peace.
